Use of Antibiotics:
In order to understand the action of antibiotics, one must have an understanding of microbiology. Classification of mechanism based principles in medicine, dictates the general use of antibiotics. It is important to know that the lack of understanding, along with poor press (media coverage) has led to either the over-use and / or under use of certain antibiotics.
Antibiotics do not cure the disease, their use is intended to help alleviate further damage or consequences of an infection while the body (host) regains it’s defense mechanisms (this is what cures the problem not the antibiotic).
In other words, we send in “back up troops to help the ones that are failing” and to prevent the spread of the “bad guys” from damaging the rest of the town, while our own troops regain their strength to win the battle!
